LAVAL, QC.—Boston continued their road trip with a Walter Cup semi-final matchup against the Montreal Victoire. This was game one of two against Montreal this week.

1st Period

Claire Dalton got the only goal of the first period with just 36 seconds left.

2nd Period

Over the halfway mark, Montreal turned over the puck in the neutral ice zone. Hannah Bilka then fed the puck to Hilary Knight in the slot. Hilary Knight put the puck away to tie the game up.

Montreal gets the jailbreak goal as Kristin O’Neill is fed from center ice and continues toward the net on a breakaway to put the puck away.

Shortly after this goal Anna Wilgren gets her first PWHL goal/point with a snipe past Emma Soderberg.

Megan Keller went down after a hit before time expired on the clock. She was noticeably in pain on the ice and had to be helped up. The hit was reviewed and as a result Catherine Dubois was dealt a game misconduct.

Victoire goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens about killing Catherine Dubois’ five-minute major penalty at the beginning of the third period:

“Knowing the person, she (Dubois) has one of the biggest hearts. She is one of the kindest human beings I have ever met. You just want to support her and be there for her, and obviously get that kill, we did exactly that. She is one of the best teammates who always puts the team first, so we owed her one.”

3rd Period

There were no goals in the third period and Montreal came out on top against Boston with a final score of 3-1.

Fleet captain Hilary Knight:

“I think we needed to put the puck in the back of the net on our special teams, especially for the number of power plays that we got. We were just short of executing. We’re going to take this back, work on it and it’s onto the next game.”
