Winnipeg Jets prospect Brad Lambert was injured in Saturday night’s contest against the Iowa Wild to close out the home portion of the Manitoba Moose’s season.
The Manitoba Moose will close out their rather disappointing 2024-25 season in Texas against the Stars, all without Lambert.
During Saturday’s game, Lambert left with an injury with roughly three minutes to play after he got slammed into the wall. He was helped off the ice by his teammates and did not put any weight on his left leg, which was a cause for concern.
Somehow, Lambert returned in the third period for a shift, and he looked great. Like a lot of things, that was short-lived lived and he headed for an early exit and did not return to the game.
“He came back and tried it, and then left again,” head coach Mark Morrison said about Brad Lambert’s injury. “I haven’t heard from the medical staff,” Morrison added.
After the Moose practiced Monday morning, Morrison was asked for an update about Lambert by Illegal Curve’s Dave Minuk, and Morrison provided news that is better than anticipated. Lambert has an ankle sprain, which will sideline him for a few weeks and will not finish the 2024-25 season, which is good news as he avoided a more serious high-ankle sprain, which would have been a more lengthy recovery.
The 21-year-old Lambert finishes the season with 35 points (7G, 28A) in 61 games played. He was voted as the Manitoba Moose’s fan favourite for the second consecutive year.
