Breaking: Annual Red/ White Game Recap

The Detroit Red Wings played their annual Red/ White training camp game on Sunday afternoon. Typical of recent Red/ White games, the game was two half periods in duration. Team Red defeated Team White 4-2 in an entertaining game.

First Half

Dylan Larkin opened the scoring for Team White, making the game 1-0. Givani Smith scored a penalty shot goal to even the score 1-1 before the end of the period. Alex Nedeljkovic and Ville Husso each allowed one goal during their respective half of the game.

Second Half

Matt Luff scored a goal for Team White to give them a 2-1 lead early in the second half. Team Red scored three unanswered goals and earned a come-from-behind 4-2 victory. Jakub Vrana scored on a perfect pass from Filip Zadina to tie the game 2-2. Rookie Cross Hanas scored the game-winner from Taro Hirose. Givani Smith scored the final goal into an empty net for Team Red. Jussi Olkinuora secured the win for Team Red, allowing only one goal. Top goaltending prospect Sebastian Cossa allowed two goals during his half and took the loss.

Injuries

Tyler Bertuzzi is day-to-day with a minor injury and did not play.

Joe Veleno also did not play.

Robert Hagg took a puck to the head during the game and did not return.

Game Notes

Michael Rasmussen and Filip Hronek were alternate captains for Team Red

David Perron and Ben Chiarot were alternate captains for Team White.

Jeremie Biakabutuka (White) and Riley Piercey (Red) were the only camp invitees that played in the game.
