BREAKING: Arizona Coyotes to be Relocated to Utah

Coyotes celebrate after Clayton Keller scores a goal against the Boston Bruins

Mullett Arena is no more.

The Arizona Coyotes will be relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah. After nearly 28 years of having an NHL team in the state of Arizona, the Coyotes’ franchise will have to find a new home for the 2024-25 NHL season.

This comes just days after the news that the team was committed to winning the land auction that was supposed to take place on June 27th, 2024. Not long after, the mayor of Scottsdale, Arizona blasted the Coyotes and owner Alex Meruelo’s bid for a plot of land to build an arena bordering Scottsdale.

Once this happened, it seemed to be a domino effect, and the first news piece of potential relocation had reared its head around Tuesday, April 9th. Finally, on Friday, April 12th, the Arizona Coyote fans, players, and people who work for the team got the dreaded news: they will be headed to Salt Lake City, Utah.

After the Coyotes’ final game on Wednesday, April 17th, the team will immediately head to Utah to check out the new city they will call home. It is unclear as of right now what the team will be called when they play in Salt Lake City.

Opinion: Stars’ Mikko Rantanen Returns to Form At the Right Time

It was clear that Mikko Rantanen was not exactly about being traded by the Colorado Avalanche, the only NHL club he had ever known. It was in Colorado where he spent close to 11 seasons, won a Stanley Cup in 2022, had 681 points (287 goals and 394 assists), and made lifelong friends. That is […]

Edmonton Oilers Playoff Thoughts: Round 2, Game 2

It takes four wins to advance, but the Edmonton Oilers historically lose almost every Game 1. In their last 15 rounds, including Tuesday night, they’ve won only four series openers. Even in 2006, they only won one Game 1. If you include that Playoff run, just for laughs, the record is 5 Game 1 wins […]
