Breaking: Dallas Stars and San Jose Sharks Make A Trade

The Dallas Stars off a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks last night are making a trade with the San Jose Sharks as they are acquiring Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci. The Sharks are getting a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick that can turn into a third if Dallas makes the Stanley Cup. The Sharks return to the ice on Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens while the Stars will have a new weapon when they face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday night. Granlund and Ceci also won’t have to wait long to make his return to San Jose as the two teams meet up again next Saturday.

Mikael Granlund 

Granlund is in his 13 seasons in the NHL. He was drafted by the Minnesota Wild with the ninth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. Granlund spent his first seven seasons with the Wild recording 317 points in 461 games. He had 93 goals and 224 assists. Granlund was then acquired by the Nashville Predators where he spent five seasons appearing in 268 games. He recorded 162 points on 51 goals and 111 assists. The Predators then traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins where he played in 21 games recording five points on a goal and four assists. Granlund has spent the last two seasons with the Sharks playing in 121 games. He recorded 105 points on 27 goals and 78 assists. This season in 52 games he has 45 points on 15 goals and 30 assists. Granlund has played in 871 career games, recording 589 points on 172 goals and 417 assists. 

Cody Ceci

Ceci is in his 12th season having played in 840 games recording 226 points on 52 goals and 174 assists. He was drafted with the 15th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators. Ceci spent his first six seasons in Ottawa playing in 440 games. He recorded 118 points on 32 goals and 86 assists. He then spent one season in Toronto playing in 56 games recording eight points on a goal and seven assists. The next season he went to Pittsburgh playing in 53 games recording 17 points on four goals and 13 assists. After Pittsburgh, he went to Edmonton where he spent three seasons recording 68 points on 11 goals and 57 assists. This season in his lone season with San Jose he has 15 points in 54 games on four goals and 11 assists.
