Breaking News: Seattle Trades Center Mason Appleton Back to Winnipeg

Mason Appleton

With their third trade of the day, the Seattle Kraken are showing they are the busiest team at the 2022 trade deadline as they are in full-blown seller mode as they look to retool with draft picks. In his first year at the helm of the Seattle Kraken, Ron Francis is not messing around as he is on a mission to load up on draft picks for this year and the next two years. The question down the line is, will he eventually use these picks for off-season trades or at next year’s deadline, or is he going to go with the homegrown method of drafting multiple players and grooming through the organization. Whatever Ron Francis does decide to do, we know that he will have plenty of draft picks to do it with. After acquiring a 2022 and 2023 second rounder along with a 2024 third-rounder from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Francis was just able to get another 2022 second-rounder from the Nashville Predators, and just when you thought he would stop there, another trade broke this time with the Winnipeg Jets.

Seattle Gets 2023 4th Round Pick From Winnipeg

Ron Francis has outdone himself, this time striking a deal to send Mason Appleton back to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2023 fourth-round pick. Appleton was initially taken in the expansion draft by Seattle from Winnipeg, making this a quick reunion with his old team. After scoring career highs with Winnipeg in the 2020-2021 season that saw Appleton put up 12 goals and 25 points, in his lone partial season with Seattle, the 26-year-old center has six goals and 17 points as he looks to get back on track with his old team. At this pace, it will certainly not be the last trade for Ron Francis before the deadline closes, as he looks to cash in as much as he can.
