Breaking: Red Wings Looking for Revenge Tonight in Chicago

After losing the last two preseason games, the Detroit Red Wings will travel to Chicago to play the Blackhawks tonight. Game time is 8:30 pm ET at the United Center in Chicago, IL. On Wednesday, Chicago defeated Detroit 4-2 in the Red Wings’ preseason home opener at LCA.

Last night, the Red Wings were shutout 2-0 in a home game against Washington. Detroit was outshot 31-19 on the night. Goaltender Ville Husso started the game and held the Capitals off the scoresheet making 13 saves. Victor Brattstrom continued his strong play stopping 16 of 17 shots. Simon Edvinsson had a big night taking three shots on goal, five hits, two blocked shots, and one takeaway in just over 20 minutes on the ice. The Capitals scored a late goal into an empty net for the win.

Tonight’s Red Wings lineup will feature several of Detroit’s top players. Returning Jakub Vrana, Lucas Raymond, Givani Smith, Dylan Larkin, and Joe Veleno forwards will play tonight. Returning defensemen Moritz Seider and Jordan Oesterle will also play for the Red Wings. Goaltenders Alex Nedeljkovic and Sebastian Cossa will also be in the lineup tonight.

What top prospects are playing?

Pontus Andreasson is in the lineup for his third consecutive game tonight. Andreasson had 10:55 of playing time last night and recorded a -1 rating.

Jonatan Berggren will suit up for his third game during the preseason. Last night, Berggren had one blocked shot during 15:38 minutes of playing time, including 1:56 on the power play.

Cross Hanas is playing in his second preseason game tonight. On Tuesday, Hanas recorded one hit and a -1 rating in 8:50 minutes of playing time.

Albert Johansson is also playing in his second preseason contest tonight. On Wednesday, Johansson recorded five shots on goal, two blocked shots, one takeaway, and one giveaway in 16:38 minutes of playing time. Johansson played on a regular defense pairing in addition to playing on the power play and penalty kill.

Jeremie Biakabutuka is on an amateur tryout and is making the most of his opportunity. Tonight, Biakabutuka is playing in his second preseason game. On Wednesday, he played 16:19 and killed penalties. He recorded one shot on goal, had four hits, and two giveaways against Chicago.
