Bruins Benders: Smitty Can Write? Not so fast…

Who is Tyler ‘Smitty’ Smith?

So let’s get some of this out of the way up front: I’m not a writer, I don’t have a journalism degree, hell, I barely made it through college (it took me 6 years), but that’s another story for another time. I’m a lifelong hockey fan who tells it as I see it. I’ve played my share of street hockey (ball hockey for my Canadian friends). My ice hockey career was limited to a few years of beer league. I can’t skate worth a damn, and I sprained my MCL (I did finish the game, though, hockey player…you know) and hung up my skates. I miss it tremendously. I fell in love with hockey when my dad took me to my first game on April 5, 1983, when Barry Peterson and the Bruins beat the Quebec Nordiques 4-3 in Overtime in Game 1 of the 82-83 playoffs at the old Boston Garden. I’ve been obsessed with hockey ever since.

What can I add to the conversation? I know hockey and a bunch of other useless crap trapped in my brain, I enjoy good music, good beer, and bourbon, and I F^(%*&g love to swear. You’re going to get my opinion on all things Bruins, NHL, Hockey, and probably some other crap you didn’t ask for. Come along for the ride, it should be fun at the very least before I get canceled for writing something stupid about a topic I probably should have stayed away from (You will be able to SEE more of that when On Thin Ice with Smitty debuts on YouTube soon).

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out. I promise the next article will be more about hockey and less about me. Maybe my first article should be about the Salary Cap…then I can be repeatedly speared in the groin by various members of the Florida Panthers* (eh, Florida Dive Team). Feel free to interact with me in the comments or on Twitter, YouTube, or anywhere else in between. I’ll see you Inside The Rink (see what I did there?).
