The NHL All-Rookie Team was announced Tuesday, and Boston Bruins’ rookie netminder Jeremy Swayman was selected to the team. Swayman is the first Bruins’ goaltender to be selected to the All-Rookie Team since Andrew Raycroft made the team in 2003-04. The 23-year-old Swayman also finished fifth in the Calder Trophy voting for the league’s top rookie with 210 votes (2 first-place votes).
Swayman joined Nashville’s defenseman Alexandre Carrier, Calder Trophy-winning defenseman Moritz Seider of the Red Wings, forward Michael Bunting of Toronto, Lucas Raymond, forward with Detroit, and Anaheim forward Trevor Zegras on the All-Rookie Team. The former UMaine-Orono star played the last five playoff games of the season for Boston.
The former fourth-round pick of the 2017 NHL Draft finished the 2021-22 season with a 23-14-3 record with three shutouts, 2.41 goals-against average (GAA), and a .914 save percentage. Swayman was 3-2 in the postseason with a 2.63 GAA and .911 save percentage.
