The Boston Bruins look like they made the most of their first draft pick from the 2023 NHL Draft by selecting forward Chris Pelosi in the third round with the 92nd overall pick. Pelosi has started the season with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the USHL and has become one of the league’s top players. This past week, Pelosi was rewarded for his offensive production by receiving the league’s Forward of the Week Award.
Pelosi collected three goals on 17 shots in four games, with two of the goals being game-winners. The Stampede won three games in the process. For the season, the Sewell, New Jersey native has six goals and three assists in ten games while playing on a line with fellow Bruins draft pick Beckett Hendrickson.
Pelosi is doing his damage around the net with a good physical presence and a quick release and scored the overtime game-winning goal against Omaha on Sunday.
Currently, the Stampede is in the second spot in the USHL Western standings at 7-2-1, and Pelosi and Hendrickson are leading the way. Sioux Falls is just one point behind first-place Fargo in the standings. This will be the last season in Sioux Falls for Pelosi as he is committed to Quinnipiac University for the 2024-25 season. The 6-foot-2 forward is currently ranked 21st on the Bruins Benders Podcast Top 30 Bruins Prospects list. The Stampede will play the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday night.
