Calgary Flames Placing Tyson Barrie on Waivers

The Calgary Flames are getting ready to return from the Four Nations break. They currently trail the Vancouver Canucks by three points for the final wild-card spot in the Western Conference. With the Flames starting to get healthy reports today have said that Calgary will be placing defenseman Tyson Barrie on waivers at 2:00 PM EST.

Barrie is in his 14th season. The Colorado Avalanche drafted him 64th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has played with the Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, Nashville Predators, and the Flames. He’s recorded 508 points in 822 games on 110 goals and 398 assists. Barrie has 869 blocked shots and 506 hits. He spent his first eight seasons with the Avalanche. In 484 games he recorded 307 points on 75 goals and 232 assists. Barrie had 512 blocked shots and 327 hits. The Maple Leafs then acquired Barrie where he spent just one season playing in 70 games recording 39 points on five goals and 34 assists. He had 76 blocked shots and 47 hits.

Barrie signed with the Oilers on October 10, 2020. He spent 2.5 seasons in Edmonton playing in 190 games. Barrie recorded 132 points on 25 goals and 107 assists. He had 200 blocked shots and 96 hits. The Predators then acquired him where he spent 1.5 seasons. In 65 games he recorded 27 points on four goals and 23 assists. He recorded 69 blocked shots and 26 hits. This season in 13 games with the Flames he recorded three points on a goal and two assists. Barrie has 12 blocked shots and ten hits. In 2 games in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers, he has three points on a goal and two assists.
