Canucks Cap Off Comeback Win

Four goals in six minutes capped off a Canucks comeback from a 2-0 deficit against the Pittsburgh Penguins, on a Saturday night in Vancouver. The night that the team celebrated Tyler Myers’ 1000th NHL game, JT Miller gave his ‘A’ to Myers to wear during the game.

Elias Pettersson finally scored his first goal of the season, and first 5 on 5 goal since March 5th, which almost seems unfathomable. Kiefer Sherwood and Miller made it 3-2 Canucks, before Surrey, BC native Arshdeep Bains scored his first NHL goal, for the team he grew up cheering for, to cap off a wild six minutes.

The Canucks had come out flat off the opening face-off, allowing former Canuck, Anthony Beauvillier, to open the scoring, but started to find their legs late in the first period. Head coach Rick Tocchet spoke with the Canucks editorial writer, Lindsey Horsting, post-game; “I think there’s some good plays out there, there’s some good possession time. We’re converting on some nice plays, the two-on-one was a big play for us. The conversion, the plays, some of the concepts we’ve talked about in training camp, and especially last week, you can see guys trying to apply it out there, so that’s nice to see.”

The first black skate jersey game of the season was successful for the hometown team, and as always, the boys looked very sharp in them. The Canucks win their fourth straight and move to 4-1-2 on the season. The Penguins lost their fifth straight and are 3-6-1.

The Canucks next game is tomorrow night, at home, against the Carolina Hurricanes, which is also a Skate jersey game.

Opinion: Oilers’ Stuart Skinner Showing Some Steadiness Between the Pipes

When it comes to Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, one never knows what they are going to get. On one hand, one might see a version of Skinner, 26, who stands tall, comes up with big saves, does not get out of position, and does not allow soft goals. When this version of Skinner is […]
