Carolina Hurricanes Re-Sign A Forward and A Defenseman

The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed two this morning, each is on a one-year, two-way contract, as they signed forward Skyler Brind’Amour and defenseman Domenick Fensore. Brind’Amour’s deal is for $775,000 at the NHL level and $90,000 at the AHL level with a guarantee of $100,000. Fensore’s deal is also for $775,000 at the NHL level, but it’s for $70,000 at the AHL level with a guarantee for $100,000.

Brind’Amour in 68 games for the Chicago Wolves last season had 24 points on 16 goals and eight assists. He was a -14 with four power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, two game-winning goals, and 40 penalty minutes. In two games for the Hurricanes, he scored a goal; he was a minus-three. Fensore in 67 games had 32 points on nine goals and 23 assists with the Wolves. He was a plus-seven with four power-play goals, three shorthanded goals, a game-winning goal, and 39 penalty minutes. He, like Brind’Amour, made his NHL debut this season. In two games, he was held pointless and had two penalty minutes.

Skyler Brind’Amour

The Edmonton Oilers drafted Brind’Amour 177th overall in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He played college hockey at Quinnipiac University for four seasons. In 145 games, he had 76 points on 23 goals and 53 assists. He was a +43 with eight power-play goals, five game-winning goals, and 84 penalty minutes. In 2023-24 he played for the Charlotte Checkers appearing in 54 games. He had eight points on three goals and five assists. He had ten penalty minutes.

Domenick Fensore

The Carolina Hurricanes drafted Fensore 90th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He played college hockey at Boston University. In four seasons, he played in 122 games, recording 85 points on 19 goals and 66 assists. He was a +27 with ten power-play goals, four game-winning goals, and 78 penalty minutes. In 2023-24, he played in 39 games for the Chicago Wolves. He had 16 points on two goals and 14 assists. He was a minus-nine with two game-winning goals and 18 penalty minutes. Fensore also played in nine games for the Norfolk Admirals, recording ten points on two goals and eight assists. He was a plus-seven with a shorthanded goal and two penalty minutes.
