Carolina Hurricanes Roster Moves 10/27

The Carolina Hurricanes got back in the win column last night and snapped their three-game losing streak with a 3-2 overtime win over the Seattle Kraken in the first game of a back-to-back. Carolina went down 2-0 early in the first, and with just under two minutes left in the first period, they got on the board when Martin Necas scored his third of the year. In the third, they were down 2-1 with over four minutes left in the game. Jesperi Kotkaniemi tied it up, and they would force overtime. In overtime with only ten seconds left, Necas would score to give the Hurricanes the win. Last night, the Hurricanes got back their goalie in Frederik Andersen, who stopped 24 of the 26 shots he faced, and he kept Carolina in that game. Tonight, they will take on the San Jose Sharks to complete the second game of the back-to-back, and they will get back one of their top goal scorers when Andrei Svechnikov makes his season debut after they took him off the Injured Reserve this morning. With Svechnikov returning, it is expected that Brendan Lemieux will find himself on the odd man out, and Svechnikov will slide into the first or second line for tonight’s matchup.

Andrei Svechnikov By The Numbers

Svechnikov has missed 41 games with a torn ACL that ended his season last year in which he had 55 points coming on 23 goals and 32 assists and finished as a plus six. He has spent all five of his NHL career with the Hurricanes, in which he played in 347 games and put up 264 points, coming on 112 goals and 152 assists, and he is a career +35.
