Carolina Hurricanes Sign a Forward and a Defenseman

The Carolina Hurricanes today signed forward Noel Gunler and defenseman Gavin Bayreuther to a one-year, two-way contract. Gunler, in 58 games for the Chicago Wolves this past season, had 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists. He was a minus-five with six power-play goals, two game-winning goals, and 39 penalty minutes. In two playoff games, he was held pointless. Bayreuther, this past season, played for Lausanne HC. In 52 games, he had 23 points on five goals and 18 assists. He was a plus-five and had 47 penalty minutes. In 18 playoff games, he had eight points on two goals and six assists. He was a plus-two with 16 penalty minutes.

Noel Gunler

Gunler has played in 100 career AHL games, recording 49 points on 24 goals and 25 assists. He is a -14 with 11 power-play goals, five game-winning goals, and 53 penalty minutes. In 12 Calder Cup Playoff games, he has two points on a goal and an assist; that goal came via the power-play. He has eight penalty minutes.

Gavin Bayreuther

Bayreuther in 122 career NHL games has 28 points on five goals and 23 assists. He is a -17 with three power-play points and 62 penalty minutes. In 238 career AHL games, he has 117 points on 25 goals and 92 assists. He is a minus-four with seven power-play goals, two game-winning goals, and 138 penalty minutes. In 29 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he has ten points on three goals and seven assists. He is a plus-two with a power-play goal, a game-winning goal, and ten penalty minutes.
