Christian Fischer signs with the Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have signed winger Christian Fischer to a one-year, 1.125 million dollar deal which is almost identical to his prior deal his was coming off of with the Coyotes. The power forward should be able to play a bottom-six penalty-killing role for the team. Fischer has also been a glue guy, locker room favorite,on and off-ice leader and leader in his community in his time in AZ. The Red Wings are looking to be near the end of their rebuild and want to push into playoff contention soon. Fischer spent his first six seasons with the Arizona Coyotes where he put up 56 goals and 55 assists for 111 points in 398 NHL games. Unless they look to bring back Tyler Bertuzzi, any likely big add for them will come through the trade market.
