Cleveland Monsters Re-Sign Forward to Two-Year AHL Deal

The Cleveland Monsters finished the regular season 35-26-5-6 with 81 points and a -19 goal differential. They reached the Calder Cup Playoffs, swept the Toronto Marlies in the first round, but fell to the Laval Rocket in four games in the second round. Today they announced they are re-signing 26-year-old forward Roman Ahcan to a two-year AHL contract. Ahcan this season in 67 games had 29 points on 18 goals and 11 assists. He was a plus-four and had 36 penalty minutes. He had a power-play goal and one game winning goal. In the playoffs in six games he had a goal and two assists; the lone goal was shorthanded. Ahcan was a plus-two with 14 penalty minutes.

Ahcan just concluded his fourth AHL season all with the Monsters. He has played in 213 games, recording 72 points with 38 goals and 34 assists. Ahcan is a career -17, with 131 penalty minutes. He has one power-play goal five shorthanded goals, and three game-winning goals. He has made back-to-back Calder Cup Playoff appearances, recording three goals and two assists. The 26-year-old is a plus-three in the playoffs with 18 penalty minutes, and a shorthanded goal. He helped the University of Wisconsin to a Big Ten Regular-Season title in 2020-21.
