The Colorado Avalanche have announced that goaltender Pavel Francouz will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season with a lower-body injury as his last appearance came on April 9th, where he stopped 19 of 23 shots in a win over the Anaheim Ducks. Francouz will head back home to the Czech Republic to rehab and be with his family; the 33-year-old netminder will be a UFA at the end of this season. Francouz has spent his entire six-year career with the Avs, where he’s put up a record of 44-21-6 with a 2.49 GAA, .919SV%, and four shutouts.
For Colorado they are currently rolling with a tandem of Alexandar Georgiev and Ivan Prosvetov in net, as Georgi has taken the role as the number one, appearing in 11 games this season and putting up a record of 7-4-1 with a 3.29 GAA .887SV%, and one shutout and the team currently sits in second place in the Central Divison. Prosevtov is 1-1 with a 2.90 GAA and .899SV% in four appearances this season. At the moment Colorado doesn’t have to go out and get another goaltender, as I believe that Georgiev and Prosvetov can hold down the fort for the time being; however, multiple teams are carrying three goaltenders right now, so it wouldn’t be an absolute shock to see them make a move if needed.
