Columbus Blue Jackets Acquire Luke Kunin from San Jose Sharks

The Columbus Blue Jackets currently in a playoff spot despite two straight losses have acquired forward Luke Kunin today from the San Jose Sharks. The Blue Jackets are sending a 2025 fourth-round pick to the Sharks in the deal. The Sharks also traded away defenseman Jake Walman last night. This is a nice deal for Columbus who adds a bottom-six forward.

Luke Kunin

Kunin is in his eighth team in his career. The Minnesota Wild drafted him 15th overall in the 2016 draft. In three seasons with the Wild, he appeared in 131 games recording 52 points on 23 goals and 29 assists. He was a -22 and had a 44.4 faceoff percentage. Kunin then spent two seasons with the Nashville Predators playing in 120 games recording 41 points on 23 goals and 18 assists. Kunin was a minus-eight and had a 40.9 faceoff percentage. He’s spent the last three seasons with the San Jose Sharks playing in 171 games recording 49 points on 27 goals and 22 assists. Kunin is a -63 with a 46.3 faceoff percentage. This season in 63 games he has 18 points on 11 goals and seven assists. He is a -24 with a 47.3 faceoff percentage.
