The Columbus Blue Jackets will take on the Seattle Kraken tonight at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH. The Blue Jackets are coming off their second straight win as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 on Tuesday night. Entering play tonight they hold the final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. Before tonight’s game, it was announced that Sean Monahan was played on injured reserve. To replace Monahan the Blue Jackets recalled forward Owen Sillinger from the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL.

Sean Monahan
Monahan signed a five-year deal with the Blue Jackets on July 1, 2024. He previously played for the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, and Winnipeg Jets. With the Flames he played in 656 games. He recorded 462 points on 212 goals and 250 assists. With the Canadiens, he played in 74 games. Monahan recorded 52 points on 19 goals and 33 assists. With the Jets, he played in 34 games. He would record 24 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. This season in 41 games he has 41 points on 14 goals and 27 assists. He is third on the team in points, in goals, and in assists.

Owen Sillinger
Sillinger has spent the last four seasons with the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL. He played in 192 career games. Sillinger has recorded 110 points on 33 goals and 77 assists. This season in 34 games he has 25 points on eight goals and 17 assists. Last season in the playoffs for Cleveland he played in 14 games. He had six points on three goals and three assists. He is Cole Sillinger’s older brother. If he were to play tonight it would be his NHL debut.
