For the fifth time in his career and the third consecutive season, Winnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been named a finalist for the Vezina Trophy as top goalie in the NHL.
Hellebuyck won the Vezina in 2020 and 2024. He is seen as the favourite to win the 2025 Vezina Trophy.
From Commerce, Michigan, Hellebuyck was first in wins (47), shutouts (8), goals-against average (2.00), and games played (T-1st at 60). Hellebuyck also ranks second in save percentage (.925 SV%), fourth in saves (1,539) and minutes (3,741). Hellebuyck allowed one goal or fewer in 26 starts this season while also recording a personal eight-game winning streak and an 11-game winning streak.
The 31-year-old Hellebuyck was a core piece to the Jets’ Presidents’ Trophy season as he also won the William Jennings Trophy as the goaltender on a team allowing the fewest regular-season goals with a minimum of 25 games played. His 47 wins are only topped by two goaltenders in NHL history, with Martin Brodeur winning 48 games in 2006-07 and Braden Holtby winning 48 games in 2015-16.
Hellebuyck is coming off a successful defence of the Williams Jennings Trophy as he’s taken home the trophy in the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
Hellebuyck contends for the 2024-25 Vezina Trophy with Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Darcy Kuemper of the Los Angeles Kings. Vasilevskiy won the award in 2019 and has been a finalist five times in his career. Kuemper rounds out the finalist group as a first-time finalist.
