Detroit Red Wings Acquire Craig Smith and Petr Mrazek from Chicago Blackhawks

The Detroit Red Wings have gone out and acquired forward Craig Smith and goalie Petr Mrazek from the Chicago Blackhawks. The Red Wings are sending forward Joe Veleno to the Blackhawks in the trade.

Craig Smith

Smith is in his 14th season playing for five teams in his career. In 968 games he has 450 points on 220 goals and 230 assists. He is a career +90 with 389 penalty minutes, a 40.6 faceoff percentage, and 89 power-play points. This season in 40 games he has 16 points on nine goals and seven assists. He is a minus-seven, has two power-play goals, and has a 35.0 faceoff percentage. The 6-1, 203 lb center brings 878 career hits to Detroit.

Petr Mrazek

Mrazek finds his way back home where he spent the first six seasons of his career. He went 72-58-20 with a .912 save percentage, a 2.60 goals against average, and 13 shutouts. In 423 games he is 178-174-40 with a .906 save percentage, a 2.85 goals-against average, and 25 shutouts. This season in 33 games he is 10-19-2 with a .890 save percentage and a 3.46 goals-against average.

Joe Veleno

Veleno is in his fifth season all with Detroit. In 288 career games,he has 74 points on 35 goals and 39 assists. He is a career -56 with a 46.6 faceoff percentage. This season in 56 games he has ten points on five goals and five assists. Veleno is a -14 with a 47.2 faceoff percentage.
