Detroit Red Wings Call Up Young Stud

The Detroit Red Wings have had a rough start to the 2024-25 season as they have started 1-3-0 after dropping last night’s game against the New York Rangers 5-2, the Red Wings got goals from J.T. Compher and Moritz Seider. The Red Wings dropped another game to the Rangers 4-1 earlier in the week. The lone win came last Saturday against the Nashville Predators in which the Red Wings recorded a shutout in a 3-0 win. The Red Wings could use a shot in the arm as they try to turn things around before this season gets away from them and they did that today by calling up Marco Kasper from Grand Rapids of the AHL under emergency conditions. Kasper has played in two games for the Griffins to this point and he wasted no time recording two points on a goal and an assist. Many were shocked when it was announced he was being sent down to the Griffins to start the season after an impressive preseason in which he played in four games recording three points on two goals and an assist and was a plus-one. The 6-1 197lb Austria native will provide offense and physicality to the Red Wings lineup.

Marco Kasper

The Detroit Red Wings drafted Kasper with the eighth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. In 2022-23 he played with Rogle BK in the SHL, in 52 games he recorded 23 points on eight goals and 15 assists he was a plus seven. He also played for Austria in International play, in five games he had three points on a goal and two assists and was a plus-one. He also debuted with the Red Wings that season playing in just one game before suffering an injury. In 2023-24 he played with Grand Rapids appearing in 71 games recording 35 points on 14 goals and 21 assists and was a plus-nine, in the playoffs, he played in nine games recording seven points on four goals and three assists and was a plus one. He’s also played with Austria this season in International play playing in five games recording three points all on goals and was a plus-three.
