
The Detroit Red Wings, after an active first day of free agency, locked up one of their own today as they agreed to an extension with forward Elmer Soderblom. The extension is for two years and has an AAV of $1.125 million. In 26 games last season with Detroit, he had 11 points on four goals and seven assists. He was a plus-two with one game-winning goal. In 38 games at Grand Rapids in the AHL, he had 17 points on five goals and 12 assists. He was a plus-four, also recording a power-play goal and two game-winning goals.

Elmer Soderblom
Soderblom was drafted 159th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the organization in 2022-23 when he played in 21 games for the Red Wings, recording eight points on five goals and three assists. He also did the same in 20 games with Grand Rapids that same season. He was even in plus/minus with Detroit and was a minus-three with Grand Rapids. He scored his first goal in his first career NHL game against the Montreal Canadiens on October 14, 2022. In 2023-24, he spent the season with Grand Rapids, playing in 61 games in which he recorded 29 points on 13 goals and 16 assists. He was a plus-one with three power-play goals and three game-winning goals.
