Detroit Red Wings Making a Call Up

The Detroit Red Wings dropped their season opener last night to the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 as Alex DeBrincat scored two goals and Vladimir Tarasenko added the other goal. Ville Husso got the start in net lasting just over 25 minutes as he allowed four goals on 14 shots, Cam Talbot replaced him and he stopped 12 of the 14 shots he saw. During last night’s game, the Red Wings lost defenseman Jeff Petry to an upper-body injury and it was announced that he would not be available for tomorrow’s game against the Nashville Predators, with that the Red Wings are recalling Justin Holl from Grand Rapids and Detroit head coach Derek LaLonde said he’ll be in the lineup, he also said he hasn’t made a decision on if Albert Johansson will make his debut tomorrow or maybe Monday against the New York Rangers.

Holl in his first season with Detroit last season played in 38 games recording five points, all on assists; he was a plus-eight, had 22 penalty minutes, 39 blocked shots, and 59 hits. In his seven-year career, he has played in 323 games recording 87 points on 11 goals and 76 assists; he is a plus 66, has 172 penalty minutes, 457 blocked shots, and 521 hits.

Albert Johansson

Johansson was drafted by the Red Wings in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft with the 60th overall pick. Last season he played in the AHL with Grand Rapids playing in 66 games he had 21 points on six goals and 15 assists; he was a plus seven and had 46 penalty minutes. In the playoffs for the Griffins he played in nine games recording three points all on assists; he was an even in the plus/minus category and had eight penalty minutes.
