Detroit Red Wings Affiliates and Prospects Check-In

The Detroit Red Wings since the calendar flipped to 2024 are 16-6-2. They have lost two in a row though. The Red Wings AHL affiliate the Grand Rapids Griffins are on a hot stretch having recorded a point in 18 straight games, during that stretch they are 13-0-5; they are also in second place in the Central Division and fifth place in the Western Conference. The Red Wings ECHL affiliate the Toledo Walleye are leading their division and hold the lead by nine points to this point of the season.

Red Wings Prospect 2023-24 Season Check-In

Forward – Red Savage – Michigan State University

Savage this season at Michigan State has played in 34 games and he has recorded 26 points coming on ten goals and 16 assists. Savage is sixth on the Spartans in points and assists and he is fourth in goals.

Forward – Cross Hanas – Grand Rapids Griffins

Hanas this season with Grand Rapids has played in 39 games and he has 11 points on five goals and six assists. Hanas has three points in his last five games on a goal and two assists.

Forward – Amadeus Lombardi – Grand Rapids Griffins

Lombardi has played in 49 games this season and he has recorded 18 points on five goals and 13 assists. In his last three games, he has one point on an assist. Lombardi has two points in his last five games, both points are on assists.

Defenseman – Albert Johansson – Grand Rapids Griffins

Johansson has played in 45 games this season and has recorded 16 points on five goals and 11 assists. He hasn’t recorded a point since February  24th going pointless in the last four games. Johansson has one point in his last five games coming on an assist.

Forward – Elmer Soderblom – Grand Rapids Griffins

Soderblom has spent the season in the AHL playing in 46 games and he has recorded wq points on eight goals and 13 assists. He has one point in his last three games coming on a goal. He has two points in his last five games coming on goals.

Defenseman – Shai Buium – University of Denver

Buium at Denver this season has played in 33 games, with 30 points on seven goals and 23 assists. Buium is sixth on the team in points and fifth in assists.

Defenseman – William Wallinder – Grand Rapids Griffins

Wallinder this season has played in 49 games with Grand Rapids and he has recorded 12 points coming on three goals and nine assists. Wallinder has one point in his last five games coming on an assist.

Forward – Dmitri Buchelnikov – Admiral Vladivostok

Buchelnikov this season played in the VHL for SKA-Neva St. Petersburg in ten games he had 12 points on three goals and nine assists. He played in one game in the MHL for SKA-1946 St. Petersburg and he recorded an assist in the loan appearance. Currently, he is playing on loan in the KHL with Admiral Vladivostok, and in 55 games he has 29 points on 13 goals and 16 assists.

Goalie – Trey Augustine – Michigan State University

Augustine this season has played with Michigan State leading them to a Big Ten regular season Championship for the first time ever. He also played in the World Juniors-20 tournament. In four games for Team USA at the Juniors he went 4-0-0 with a 1.75 GAA and a .936 save percentage leading USA to Gold. With the Spartans this season he is 20-8-2 in 31 games with a 2.92 GAA, a .917 save percentage, and three shutouts. He is tied for fifth in the country in wins.

Defenseman – Andrew Gibson – Soo Greyhounds

This season, Gibson has been playing in the OHL with the Soo Greyhounds, and in 59 games, he has 40 points on 11 goals and 29 assists.

Forward – Carter Mazur – Grand Rapids Griffins

Mazur has spent this season with Grand Rapids and in 44 games he has 29 points on 14 goals and 15 assists. Mazur in his last three games has six points on three goals and three assists. He ranks second on the Griffins in points and goals and seventh on the team in assists.

Defenseman – Axel Sandin-Pellikka – Skelleftea AIK

Sandin-Pellikka this season played with Skelleftea AIK in the SHL and in 35 games he had 16 points on ten goals and six assists. He also played for Team Sweden in the World Juniors-20 tournament and in seven games he had six points on two goals and four assists, in all the International Junior games he played in which was 14 he had ten points on five goals and five assists.

Goalie – Sebastian Cossa – Grand Rapids Griffins

Cossa has spent the whole season in the AHL with Grand Rapids and in 26 games he is 13-7-6 with a 2.66 GAA and a .908 save percentage. In his last five games, he is 3-0-2 giving up 13 goals on 143 shots.

Forward – Nate Danielson – Portland Winterhawks

Danielson started the season playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL and in 26 games he had 26 points on 12 goals and 14 assists. He would be traded to the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL and in 20 games with them he has 26 points on eight goals and 18 assists. He also played for Team Canada in the World Junior ’s-20 tournament and in five games he had three points on a goal and two assists. In his last five games, he has six points on three goals and three assists.

Forward – Marco Kasper – Grand Rapids Griffins

Kasper this season with Grand Rapids has played in 51 games and he has 25 points on ten goals and 15 assists. In his last five games, he has three points all coming on goals. He is fourth on the Griffins in points, fifth in goals, and eighth in assists.

Defenseman – Simon Edvinsson – Grand Rapids Griffins

Edvinsson this season has spent the majority of his time with Grand Rapids, but he also had a brief stint in Detroit. With the Red Wings, he played in two games and recorded an assist. With the Griffins in 48 games, he has recorded 27 points on eight goals and 19 assists. In his last five games, he has two points, both coming on goals. Edvinsson ranks third on the team in points, second in assists, and eighth in goals.

Next Up

The Griffins return to the ice tonight and put their point streak on the line against the Cleveland Monsters the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets then they will take on the Chicago Wolves on Friday, the Wolves have no NHL affiliation. Then on Saturday, they face the Central Division leading Milwaukee Admirals the AHL affiliate of the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. The Walleye return to the ice on Friday taking on the Cincinnati Cyclones the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and then on Saturday and Sunday they take on the Kalamazoo Wings the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
