Last week, the Detroit Red Wings went 2-1-0 and won two straight games while their affiliates combined to go 4-1-1, and they outscored their opponents 24-13. The Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League went 2-1-0 and scored 12 goals in the three games. The Toledo Walleye, the ECHL affiliate of the Red Wings, went 2-0-1 and outscored their opponents 12-10. Despite their winning week, The Griffins are currently in sixth place in the Central Division. The Walleye still sit in first place in the Central Division in the ECHL and hold a four-point lead over the Iowa Heartlanders, who they split the week series against but managed to take home three points against them. 3.) Forward – Nate Danielson – Brandon Wheat Kings

Danielson and the Wheat Kings only had one game this week, and it was a 7-1 win in which Danielson recorded three points in the game, all coming on assists to bring his season total to 20 points in 21 games, coming on eight goals and 12 assists.

2.) Forward – Carter Mazur – Grand Rapids Griffins

Mazur had three points this week, coming on a goal and two assists. He had an assist in the first game of the week on Wednesday. He didn’t record a point on Friday, and on Saturday, he picked up a goal and an assist. He brought his season total to eight points in 12 games on three goals and five assists.

1.) Defenseman – Simon Edvinsson – Grand Rapids Griffins

Last week, Edvinsson continued his trend toward Detroit, recording three points on two goals and an assist. On Wednesday, in the Griffins’ win, he recorded an assist, and then on Friday, he had two goals in the Griffins’ 4-1 victory; he didn’t play in Saturday’s game. In 17 games this season, he has 13 points on five goals and eight assists.

Week Ahead:

The Griffins have a busy week with four games in six days; all of the games will be played on the road starting on Tuesday when they face the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs; they also play again on Sunday. Tuesday’s game is set for 7:00 PM, and Sunday’s will be at 4:00 PM. The other two games will be played on Friday and Saturday when they face the Belleville Senators, who are the AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, and both of those games will be at 7:00 PM.

The Walleye have three games this week, with the first one coming on Wednesday when they take on the Kalamazoo Wings at home with a 10:35 AM puck drop; the Wings are the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks. This weekend, they will face the Cincinnati Cyclones, who are the affiliate of the New York Rangers; Friday’s game will be a home game for Toledo with puck drop at 7:15 PM, and Saturday’s game will be in Cincinnati with puck drop at 7:35 PM.
