Red Wings Prospect Check In

The Detroit Red Wings picked a win over the weekend as they beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4. The Red Wings’ minor league affiliates, however, struggled, going 2-3-0 over the last week with their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, who lost both games over the weekend to the Toronto Marlies and dropped to fifth place in the Central Division at 3-5-1-1 and eight points. The Red Wings ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Walleye, went 2-1-0 over the weekend and took first place in the Central Division at 5-1-1 and 11 points. The Griffins were outscored 11-3; for the Walleye, they outscored their opponent 18-14. Now, the three stars of the week for the Red Wings prospects. Three Stars of the Week.

3.) Forward – Amadeus Lombardi – Grand Rapids Griffins

Lombardi recorded his first goal as a pro over the weekend in Grand Rapids’ 7-4 loss to the Toronto Marlies on Friday night. Lombardi has four points on the season, coming on a goal and three assists. Last season, he recorded 102 points while playing with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League, scoring 45 goals and 57 assists.

2.) Forward – Conlan Keenan – Toledo Walleye

Keenan had a fantastic weekend, recording five points, four goals, and an assist. On Friday night, he had a goal and was a plus-three. In Saturday’s game, he had a goal and an assist and was a plus-one. In the weekend’s final game on Sunday, he scored two more goals and was a plus-one, making him a plus-five. His season point total is now up to eight points, coming on six goals and two assists, and he is a plus-six.

1.) Forward – Sam Craggs – Toledo Walleye

Craggs, this weekend, had seven points on four goals and three assists. On Friday night, he had three points coming on two goals and an assist and was a plus-three. On Saturday, he added two more goals and was a plus one, and in the final game of the week, he had two assists and finished even bringing his plus/minus over the weekend to plus four. He got his season point total to 13, coming on six goals and seven assists, and he is a plus ten on the year.

Next Up:

This coming week, the Griffins will play Wednesday at 11:00 AM against the Chicago Wolves, who are currently unaffiliated with an NHL team. Then, on Friday and Sunday, they will take on the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets they will take on the Manitoba Moose All three games are at home, and Friday’s game will start at 7:00 PM while Sunday’s game will be at 5:00 PM. The Walleye will play four games this week, starting with a morning game on Wednesday against the Wheeling Nailers, the ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, with puck drop set for 10:35 AM. On Friday, they will face Kalamazoo Wings, the ECHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, with a puck drop at 7:15 PM. On Saturday, they will hit the road to take on the Fort Wayne Komets, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, whom the Walleye just took two out of three from over this past weekend. On Sunday, they will continue a road trip when they take on the Indy Fuel, the ECHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, with puck drop set for 4:00 PM.
