The Detroit Red Wings will be playing a back-to-back game this weekend. The first one comes tonight against the Los Angeles Kings at home, and then tomorrow night, they are on the road to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs. Before tonight’s game, they recalled Brogan Rafferty from Grand Rapids. This move is an interesting one and is most likely because of Jake Walman.
Brogan Rafferty By The Numbers
Rafferty started his career with the Vancouver Canucks and has only played in three games in the NHL in his career, all coming with Vancouver. In those three games, he has recorded one point on an assist and is a minus two. This season with Grand Rapids, Rafferty has played in 33 games and has recorded 13 points on a goal, 12 assists, and is a plus-one. His career AHL stats are that he has played in 227 games with the Utica Comets, San Diego Gulls, Coachella Valley Firebirds, and the Griffins and has recorded 133 points on 21 goals, 112 assists, and is a plus 45.
Bottom Line:
These two games are key for the Red Wings; with the Kings currently sitting in a playoff spot, it’s always nice to pick up points against a playoff team. Tomorrow against Toronto, they need points as well, with the Maple Leafs currently ahead of them in the Atlantic Division and holding the third spot in the division. The Red Wings are currently in the midst of a tight race for the Eastern Conference Wild Card with four teams all jumbled up on the outside looking in so four points this weekend would be huge.
