Detroit Red Wings Roster Moves 10/20

Tomorrow afternoon, the Detroit Red Wings will renew their rivalry that started last season against the Ottawa Senators when Alex DeBrincat and Dominik Kubalik take on their former teams: DeBrincat in the Senators and Kubalik in the Rex Wings. Today, following practice, it was announced that Robby Fabbri would be out for a month with a lower-body injury and was placed on injured reserve. Another Red Wing was injured today and is not expected to play against Ottawa. The Red Wings Head Coach Derek LaLonde said they would most likely go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen, but a call-up from Grand Rapids was expected; well, it happened as the Red Wings called up forward Jonatan Berggren from the Griffins.

Jonatan Berggren By The Numbers

Berggren made his NHL debut last season and looked solid as he forced the Red Wings to keep him called up due to his play. In 67 games, he put up 28 points, coming on 15 goals and 13 assists; he had nine power-play points, five power-play goals, and four power-play assists. During camp, he played in five games and put up four points on a goal and three assists; he was also a plus-three; the goal also came on the power-play. This season in Grand Rapids, he has played in two games and recorded three points, all coming on assists, and he is a plus-one. It was a surprise to see him in the AHL to start the season, but he’s back now, and if he slides into the lineup and plays like he did last year, it’ll be hard for the Red Wings to send him back down.

  1. Sooner, rather than later the Wings will have to move on from Fabbri. I feel bad for the guy when he is healthy which isn’t very often he puts up good numbers. Keep Berggren up and don’t let him go back down.

    1. FACTS! Everyone pitched a fit when Bert broke his hands blocking shots, yet, no one is bitching about FABS YET?? BS! Time to let that guy GO!!!

  2. While Berggren will be an NHL player due to his vision and skill, he is incredibly soft and THIS is not the game to play him. They need the biggest fastest lineup possible that provides serious grit. Last year Tkachuk called out the entire Red Wing bench, and not a single Wing player had a b*lls to punch him in the face. Larkin, as Capt, should have two handed him in the face as stood over him. Reminds of a quote from the great King Clancy, “If you can’t beat a team in an alley, you can’t beat them on the ice.” This game reminds me of the famed March 26 1997 game vs the Avs. If the Wings don’t stand up physically as a team today, SY needs to start make some serious roster moves to obtain players who can.
