Detroit Red Wings Roster Moves 10/29

The Detroit Red Wings are coming off a loss last night to the Boston Bruins in which they were outscored 4-1 and, for the second consecutive game, went down 2-0 in the first period; they couldn’t get anything going offensively. Now, the Red Wings will head to Long Island to take on New York Islanders on Monday, and today, they made the following moves.

Forward Klim Kostin returned to the lineup on Thursday in the loss to Winnipeg. The Red Wings also have Defenseman Jeff Petry back, as he played in last night’s game. Following practice on Friday, the Red Wings head coach said that some forwards were dealing with some aches and that Forward Jonatan Berggren would go on the trip to Boston, and they would reassess things on Saturday. Today, Berggren was sent back to Grand Rapids, returning from his emergency load. This means Detroit has everyone except Robby Fabbri ready to go following the Bruins game heading into Monday night’s game.

Roster Moves By The Numbers

Jonatan Berggren

Berggren this season has played in two games since being called up by the Red Wings. In those games, he failed to register a point but did have three shots on goal. He will now report to Grand Rapids, where he also played in two games; he had three points, all coming off assists.

Klim Kostin

Kostin, this season, has been the enforcer the Red Wings have so desperately needed; he has not registered a point in his six games, however, but has seven penalty minutes and eight hits through that time. Look for him to add some scrappiness to the Red Wings lineup when he’s in it.

Jeff Petry

Petry was acquired in the offseason from the Montreal Canadiens to give the Red Wings depth on the blue line, which this season has been a bright spot for them. In five games, he has two points coming on assists and has four shots on goal; he also has four blocked shots and seven hits.
