The Detroit Red Wings are coming off an overtime win over the New York Islanders last night, 4-3. It was a great comeback win, as the Red Wings were down 2-0 in the final period. The offense got some secondary scoring as J.T. Compher, Jake Walman, and Daniel Sprong scored goals in regulation before Lucas Raymond, off a beautiful play alongside Compher, scored the game-winner in overtime to secure the win. The Red Wings got some encouraging news today as they activated forward Carter Mazur off Injured Reserve and sent him to Grand Rapids of the AHL. Mazur suffered a lower-body injury during the Traverse City Prospect Tournament and missed all of the training camp.
Carter Mazur By The Numbers
Detroit drafted Mazur in the third round of the 2021 NHL Draft with the 70th pick overall. He played his college hockey at the University of Denver, where he played in 81 games over two years; he recorded 75 points coming on 36 goals and 39 assists. He played for the US World Junior-20 team in 2021-22, playing in five games and recording seven points on five goals and two assists. In 2022-23, he played in the World Cup of Hockey and, in ten games, had four points on a goal and three assists. Last year, he appeared in six games for Grand Rapids, recording six points on three goals and three assists.
