Detroit Red Wings Roster Moves 3/14

The Detroit Red Wings tonight are taking on the Arizona Coyotes and are looking to snap their six-game losing streak. The Red Wings lost to the Coyotes last Friday 4-0 as part of their losing streak. The Red Wings held a ten-point lead for the final Wild Card spot just three weeks ago and since then it has evaporated they are tied with the Islanders for that last playoff spot and badly need a much-needed two points tonight as well with an Islanders loss. Yesterday at practice two Red Wings players got in an altercation involving Lucas Raymond and Ben Chiarot which just might provide a much-needed spark to the team and get them to adjust how they’ve been playing as of late. Something else that might help and add a little depth as they called up Austin Czarnik today from the Grand Rapids Griffins the Red Wings AHL affiliate. Joe Veleno was also injured on Tuesday night in the Red Wings game against the Buffalo Sabres and even though he skated at practice yesterday this move may signal that he isn’t guaranteed as a full go tonight and with Detroit captain Dylan Larkin not expected back till next week this is the right call.

Red Wings Roster Move By The Numbers

Austin Czarnik

Czarnik this season with Grand Rapids has played in 36 games and he has 26 points on nine goals and 17 assists, he has two power-play goals as well; he ranks tied for fifth on the Griffins in points, tied for seventh in goals, and tied for fifth in assists. He has played in 18 games for the Red Wings this season and has recorded just a point coming on an assist. Last season he played in 29 games and had five points on three goals and two assists and he had a power-play point on an assist.
