The Detroit Red Wings are off to a great start this season, going 11-6-3 in their first 20 games and scoring four goals or more in 13 of those games; they’ve also averaged 3.70 goals per game, which ranks fifth in the league. The offense is about to get a boost as they have signed Patrick Kane today, who couldn’t say no to the possibility of playing with former teammate Alex DeBrincat again.
Patrick Kane By The Numbers
The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Kane with the first overall pick in the 2007 draft. He debuted on October 4, 2007; he recorded his first point on October 6 against the Red Wings and scored his first goal on October 19. He would play in all 82 games that season, recording 72 points on 21 goals and 51 assists; he would win the Calder Trophy for the Rookie of the Year. He spent 16 seasons with the Blackhawks and recorded 1,225 points, coming on 446 goals and 779 assists. In 2023, he was traded from the Blackhawks to the Rangers, and in 19 games, he recorded 12 points on five goals and seven assists. In the playoffs, he has played in 143 games and recorded 138 points on 53 goals and 85 assists.
Kane is a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, winning in 2009-10, 2012-13, and 2014-15. He is a four-time all-star and won an Art Ross Trophy and a Hart Trophy in 2015-16 for MVP and has the most points in the league. Kane will be an excellent fit for the Red Wings as DeBrincat’s 40-goal season came playing with Kane on his line.
