
The Detroit Red Wings first signings of free agency are additions to the blue line. They first signed defenseman Ian Mitchell to a one-year deal with a $775,000 AAV. Detroit then signed defenseman Jacob Bernard-Docker to a one-year deal with a $875,000 AAV. They then signed forward James van Riemsdyk to a one-year deal worth $1 million. Mitchell split time between Boston and Providence last season. In 15 games with Boston, he had an assist. In 47 games with Providence, he had 27 points on four goals and 23 assists. Bernard-Docker, between Ottawa and Buffalo last season, played in 40 games, recording eight points on two goals and six assists. He was a plus-five and had 50 blocked shots and 30 hits. van Riemsdyk in 71 games last season, recording 36 points on 16 goals and 20 assists. He was a minus-four with two power-play points.

Ian Mitchell
Mitchell in 110 career NHL games has 19 points on four goals and 15 assists. he is a -17 with 119 blocked shots and 44 hits. In 156 career AHL games, he has 93 points on 23 goals and 70 assists. He is a _24 with 64 penalty minutes and 12 power-play goals.
Jacob Bernard-Docker
Bernard-Docker in 144 career games has 24 points on six goals and 18 assists. He is a career minus-one with 57 penalty minutes, 241 blocked shots, and 122 hits. He was moved at the trade deadline last season by the Ottawa Senators.

James van Riemsdyk
