Tomorrow kicks off free agency for the 2025-26 season, and the Detroit Red Wings have freed up some money. This afternoon, it was announced that the team is trading forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for future considerations. The Tarasenko trade results in no retained money, freeing up $4.75 million. Tarasenko, in 80 games for Detroit this season, had 33 points on 11 goals and 22 assists. He was a -13, with eight power-play points. He was rumored to have been on the market at the trade deadline this season, but a deal couldn’t get done. One name to watch now before tomorrow for Detroit is re-signing forward Patrick Kane, who it’s no secret general manager Steve Yzerman wants to bring back. Kane has also said he’d like to finish his career with Detroit.
