The Los Angeles Kings have only two wins in the last 14 games. That isn’t good enough for a team with Stanley Cup aspirations. Things came to a tipping point after the Kings blew a 3-1 lead to the Buffalo Sabres, capping their 2-7-5 blunder.

There’s no doubt that when a player of Drew Doughty’s status makes comments in a post-game interview, people listen. Wednesday evening was quite an evening. Here are some of the quotes from Drew Doughty.

“I think we’ve got guys in this room that are too worried about themselves and worried about their points and worried about stuff like that,” Drew Doughty said as he began a call-out session with reporters. “We’ve got a 3-1 lead tonight, and guys start thinking it’s a cookie night. And we stopped playing the way we know how to play. Have an awful second period and aren’t much better in the third.

“It’s about the team. It’s not about yourself. And a lot of guys on this team need to realize that.”

These are shocking and revealing comments from a leader and star player for the Kings. Now the question remains: will the Kings roster hear these comments and bounce back? Or will things erode inside the dressing room?
