The Winnipeg Jets and the Los Angeles Kings have agreed to a trade involving Pierre-Luc Dubois. Dubois signed an 8-year contract extension with the Winnipeg Jets worth $8.5 million annually before the trade, making this deal a true sign-and-trade.

Los Angeles will only receive Pierre-Luc Dubois in the deal, while Winnipeg will receive Gabriel Valardi, Rasmus Kupari, Alex Iafallo, and Montreal’s 2024 second-round pick.

After a long process of signing Dubois to make this trade happen, Dubois finally will move over to his third NHL team.

Dubois posted 27 goals and 36 assists for 63 points in 73 games with the Winnipeg Jets in 2022-23. He has yet to show his full potential, but the LA Kings are getting a young, big, and physical center for the next eight years. That’s if he doesn’t request a trade before the expiration of the contract.

As for the players the Winnipeg Jets are receiving, Iafallo is signed for two more years at $4 million annually. Iafallo posted 14 goals and 22 assists for 36 points in 59 games with LA in the 2022-23 season. Iafallo will be an unrestricted free agent when his contract expires in 2025-26.

Rasmus Kupari was drafted 20th overall by the LA Kings in 2018 and has split three seasons between the LA Kings and the Ontario Reign at the NHL and AHL levels. In Kupari’s 2022-23 campaign, he scored three goals and 12 assists for 15 points in 66 games with the Kings. Kupari is a restricted free agent without arbitration rights.

Gabriel Valardi was drafted 11th overall by the LA Kings in 2017 and spent the entire 2022-23 season at the NHL level. Valardi posted 23 goals and 18 assists for 41 points in 63 games with the Kings. Valardi is a restricted free agent with arbitration rights.
