Dylan Coghlan is going back to where his professional hockey career started, in Sin City.
The Vegas Golden Knights and Dylan Coghlan have agreed to terms on a one-year deal carrying an average annual value of $775,000.
Coghlan split the 2024-25 season between the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL and the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. Coghlan suited up in six games for the Winnipeg Jets and 36 with the Manitoba Moose. He didn’t record a point for the Jets and managed to post 28 points (12G, 16A) in his 36 games for the Moose.
He found himself consistently playing top-line minutes for the Moose and contributed massively to the team’s scoring, placing fourth on the Moose in team scoring.
The Jets acquired Coghlan on July 6th, 2024, as a restricted free agent at the time from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for future considerations.
Coghlan has spent a lot of time since 2018-19 between the AHL and NHL. To date, he’s posted 22 points (6G, 16A) in 112 NHL games and has never played an NHL Playoff game. In the AHL, he’s posted 136 points (56G, 80A) in 228 games and has added two points/assists in seven AHL playoff games.
Before his professional hockey career, Coghlan spent four years in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans. He posted 145 points (38G, 107A) in 265 games, all with the Americans.
In the 2023-24 season, Coghlan recorded the most goals by an AHL defenseman with 16 that season for the Springfield Thunderbirds.
It is not clear if Coghlan will start the season in the NHL with Vegas or find his way to the AHL with the Henderson Silver Knights.
