ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Add Two New Faces to the Roster

For the second straight day, the Adirondack Thunder have added to their roster as they announced that they’ve signed center Grant Loven and defenseman Stephen Calisti. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Head Coach Pete MacArthur announced earlier this week that changes were coming, and to add to that, the injury bug has been hitting Adirondack over the last couple of weeks.

Grant Loven

Loven, 27, has spent the majority of the last three seasons with the Marksmen, where he’s put up 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 58 games. He got his first taste of ECHL experience last season as he put up one assist in 15 games with the Toledo Walleye. Prior to joining the Marksmen at the end of the 2022-23 season, the East Grand Forks, Minnesota native spent five years at the NCAA level playing for Northern Michigan University, University of St. Thomas, and Canisius College, putting up 22 goals and 35 assists for 57 points in 157 NCAA games. During his time at Northern Michigan University, Loven would play alongside Andre Ghantous, so it should help that Loven sees at least one familiar face when he walks into the Adirondack Thunder locker room.

Stephen Calisti

Calisti, 25, joins the Thunder after spending the last three seasons in USports with Ontario Tech University, where he scored nine goals and added 25 assists for 34 points in 65 games. Prior to making the jump to USports, he spent two seasons in the OJHL with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, where he scored 16 goals and added 67 assists for 83 points in 107 games. He began this season overseas in the EIHL with the Guildford Flames, where he played in two games. Stephen is the brother of Robbie Calisti, who is in his third season in the league as he’s put up 23 goals and 47 assists for 70 points while spending time with the Florida Everblades, Kalamazoo Wings, Atlanta Gladiators, and Jacksonville Icemen.
