The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve traded forward Easton Armstrong to the Tulsa Oilers in exchange for Sean Olson. It will be interesting to see how this deal works out for both teams, as both players are coming off their first full season in the ECHL. This is the second trade the Thunder have made this Summer.
Sean Olson Joins The Thunder
Olson, 26, is coming off his first full season in the ECHL, where he put 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points in 55 games. He also had one assist in three games with the Maine Mariners at the end of the 2022-23 season. The 6’3,203lb forward will add some size up front for the Thunder and play a power-forward role for the team. Olson didn’t play during the 2023-24 season.
Prior to going pro, Olson spent parts of three seasons in USports at the University of Windsor. In 54 games with the Lancers, he put up 24 goals and 16 assists for 40 points. He would add five goals and three assists for eight points in nine USports Playoff games.
Easton Armstrong
Armstrong, 22, is dealt for the second time this Summer after being acquired in the trade that sent Brendan Less to the Atlanta Gladiators. In his rookie year in the ECHL, Armstrong had eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 51 games.
Prior to going pro, the Redondo Beach, California, native spent five seasons in the WHL with the Regina Pats, Winnipeg Ice, Wenatchee Wild, and Saskatoon Blades. He had 60 goals and 39 assists for 99 points in 210 games.
