The Adirondack Thunder relieved their 2024-25 season-ending roster on Monday afternoon, which consisted of 12 forwards, seven defenseman, and one goaltender. Per the ECHL, Season-Ending Rosters may include up to 20 players. Season-Ending Rosters cannot include any players who did not sign an ECHL contract in 2024-25.
Adirondack Thunder Protected List
Forwards (12) – Caden Villegas, Greg Smith, Kishaun Gervais, Grant Loven, Kalen Ergang, Ryan Wheeler, Dan Ebrahim, T.J. Friedmann, Sean Gulka, Brian Carrabes, Adam Robbins, Brannon McManus.
Defensemen (7) – Ian Pierce, Dennis Busby, Ryan Conroy, Brendan Less, Darian Skeoch, Isaiah Fox, Pierson Brandon.
Goaltenders (1) – Henry Welsch
Notable Names Heading To Free Agency
David Fessenden– Goaltender David Fessenden will head to free agency after an injury-shortened rookie year. In 11 games with the Thunder, he went 2-5-1 with a 3.23 GAA and .874SV%. Fessenden will be remembered in Adirondack for dropping the gloves with Reading Royals goaltender Keith Petruzzelli on December 20th, 2024. This comes as a bit of a shock, as Adirondack has had a knack for signing tall goaltenders in recent years, including Vinnie Purpura and David Fessenden. The 24-year-old goaltender is now an ECHL free agent and will look to find a new home.
Gustav Mueller– The 26-year-old Swedish forward would make his ECHL debut during the 2024-25 season. In 20 games with Adirondack, he would have three goals and three assists for six points. Mueller was one of a handful of players who got a shot with the Thunder this season, but unfortunately, will head to free agency. It wouldn’t be a surprise for Mueller to at least get a PTO with an ECHL team heading into training camp if he’s not able to get an ECHL contract during the off-season. If Mueller can’t secure an ECHL deal, I would expect him to return to the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL).
Kurt Gosselin– The Brighton, Michigan, native will be hitting the market after spending just one season with the Thunder. Gosselin, 30, had an injury-shortened season, which saw him play in 28 games for the Adirondack while putting up three goals and seven assists for 10 points. Gosselin was expected to be a big part of the Thunder blueline last season, and it’s a shock that they are not looking to bring back a player of his caliber. He will certainly have several teams looking for his services if he decides to continue his playing career.
