ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Announce Assistant Captains

Cody Conine/InsideTheRInk

The Adirondack Thunder have announced their leadership group led by Darian Skeoch, who will retain the “C” as Ryan Smith and Kevin O’Neil will both wear an “A” for the 2024-25 season.

Smith- The Roanoke, Virginia native has been with the Thunder for the past four seasons and wore an “A” on his chest during the 2023-24 season. There’s no question that this is well-deserved for a player like Smith, who is coming off a career season in which he scored 27 goals and added 23 assists for 50 points in 69 games and would put up nine goals and three assists for 12 points in 19 games during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Over the course of his five-year career, he’s put up 54 goals and 65 assists for 119 points in 212 games, with all but three of those games coming as a member of the Thunder.

O’Neil- This is the second consecutive season that Adirondack has given a letter to one of their new signings, as Colin Felix wore an A last season with the Thunder after coming over from Reading. O’Neil spent his first three seasons in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays, where he scored 46 goals and added 77 assists for 123 points in 126 games. The 26-year-old forward has also played nine games at the AHL level, where he’s scored a goal and assisted. This is a big honor for the Latham, NY native who now plays less than an hour away from his hometown to be able to wear a letter for his hometown ECHL team.
