ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Bring Back Greg Smith

The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve re-signed forward Greg Smith for the 2025-26 season. Smith,27, made his ECHL Debut last season, putting up seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points in 51 games. Heading into next season, Smith adds another depth piece to the Thunder roster. With the signing of Smith, Adirondack now has 13 forwards signed for the 2025-26 season.

Smith began his career in the SPHL. He played six games with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs at the end of the 2023-24 season. Before joining Adirondack last season, Smith put up a goal and nine assists for 10 points in 17 games with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.

Junior and USports Career

The Ajax, Ontario, native spent the majority of his junior career in the OJHL playing for Wellington Dukes, Aurora Tigers, and Whitby Fury. In 145 career OJHL games, Smith would put up 31 goals and 61 assists for 92 points. He would captain the Fury in his final season in the OJHL. Smith would add two goals and eight assists for 10 points in 27 OJHL Playoff games. He would also play in 16 games at the OHL level with the Owen Sound.

Once his junior career was over, Smith would head to USports, joining Lakehead University. In 91 games with the Thunderwolves, he would put up 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points. He would add two goals and two assists for four points in  10 USports Playoff games. Smith wore an “A” in his final two years at Lakehead University.
