ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Claim Defenceman On Waivers

Mount Royal University Athletics

The Adirondack Thunder made a waiver claim today as they claimed Connor Blake off waivers from the Idaho Steelheads today. Blake will be joining his second ECHL team after finishing off his collegiate career at Mount Royal University of USports, where he put up 15 goals and 71 assists for 86 points in 104 games over the course of four seasons. The 25-year-old defenceman would sign with the Steelheads back on March 2nd and would appear in three games with the Steelheads failing to find the scoresheet. The Calgary Native was named the Outstanding Student-Athlete Award during the 2022-23 season. For Adirondack, this is a smart claim as the team has recently been short on defencemen, but the 5’7 Blake can play either upfront or on the blueline. Blake can also play forward. Connor’s first chance to join the Thunder lineup will be on Wednesday as the Thunder will host the Worcester Railers to begin a six-game homestand.
