ECHL: Adirondack Thunder Gets Shipwrecked By Maine Mariners

GLENS FALLS, NY– The Adirondack Thunder had a chance to gain ground on the Worcester Railers, and pick up their 1500 goal of a franchise. However, both of those would be put on hold as Adirondack would drop Wednesday’s game to the Maine Mariners by a score of 5-1. Adirondack struggled tonight on the Penalty Kill,, and that’s how the Mariners would get on the board as Patrick Shea would launch a one-timer from the circle past Theut. It looked as if Adirondack would only be down heading into the second,, but Tyler Hinam,, who was activated off of IR today,, would find a rebound spin-around and score with .3 seconds left in the first to double the Mariner’s lead. Travis Broughman had two grade-A chances all alone and wasn’t able to hit the net, the Thunder needed something to get them headed in the right direction. On their fourth PP of the game, Sebastian Vidmar would find the back of the net on a rebound attempt, “Probably one of the easiest goals I’ve scored, easy rebound right in front and no one there to touch me” said, Vidmar. The Thunder came out hot in the third as they peppered Micheal DiPietro but couldn’t get more pucks past him. Grant Gabriele would skate down the ice almost untouched and passed it off to Fredor Gordeev, who’d get it back to him as the Mariners had their second PP goal of the night, Patrick Shea would score his second goal of the night, and Maine’s third on the PP to make it 4-1. Adirondack would have a chance to get within two as they had a PP with 6:14 left, and they pulled Theut for the extra attacker, but they couldn’t score, and Gordeev would hit the empty net to make it 5-1. Jake Theut made 32 saves in the loss.
