The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve re-signed rookie forward Caden Villegas for the 2025-26 season. Villegas, 24, had a goal and two assists for three points in 12 games at the end of the regular season. All three of his points last season came against the Maine Mariners. Villegas should be a solid middle-six piece for the Thunder next season. Villegas joins Dan Ebrahim and Isaiah Fox on the list of late-season forward signings from last year that are staying put in Glens Falls.
The Plano, Texas, native spent the majority of his junior career in the NAHL with the Springfield Jr. Blues. In 104 games with the Jr. Blues, he put up 25 goals and 35 assists for 60 points. He would add two goals in four NAHL playoff games. Villegas also played in 50 games at the USHL level with the Central Illinois Flying Aces and the Tri-City Storm. He would put up eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points in 48 games in the NAHL. Villegas also played in three playoff games while with the Storm.
The 5’8 forward would then take his talents to the NCAA level, joining Union College. In 139 games, he put up 29 goals and 51 assists for 80 points. In his final collegiate season, he would be tied for the team lead in points and assists as he put up seven goals and 22 assists for 29 points. Villegas also wore an “A” for Union during the 2024-25 season. During his NCAA career, he was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team in back-to-back seasons (2021-22 and 2022-23)
