The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they’ve re-signed rookie defenseman Ian Pierce for the 2025-26 season. Pierce,24, joined the Thunder at the end of the 2024-25 season, where he would put up two goals and four assists for six points. He would have at least one point in five of the six games he played in with Adirondack. The 5’10 blueliner will bring some much-needed offense to the Thunder blueline, after the team traded Brendan Less to Atlanta. This is a strong start as the Thunder will look to revamp their blueline this Summer. Pierce is the first defenseman and third signing by the Thunder this summer.
Prior to going pro, Pierce spent parts of four seasons in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, putting up eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points in 92 games. He would play in two USHL playoff games during his time with the Saints, but couldn’t find the scoresheet. The Edgewater, New Jersey, native would then take the NCAA route, playing four years at Dartmouth College, where he recorded nine goals and 31 assists for 40 points in 101 NCAA games. During his first year with the Big Green, he would be tied for the team lead in goals by a defenseman (4). In 2022, Pierce was named to the NCAA All-Ivy League Honorable Mentions Team.
The Thunder also announced today that they will once again be playing two preseason games. They will head down to Reading on October 10th and will host the Trois-Rivières Lions on October 11th.
