The Adirondack Thunder have announced that they have signed defenseman Jackson van de Leest for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. Van de Leest is a 6’7, 238lb defenseman who’s spent the last two years at Dalhousie University in USports, where he put up four goals and 13 assists for 17 points in 57 games. Prior to his time in Usports, he spent four seasons in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen and Red Deer Rebels, where he put up 11 goals and 77 assists for 88 points in 255 games. The native of British Columbia wore the “A” in the 2020-21 and the “C” in 2021-22 with the Hitmen.

This is a strong signing for the Thunder, who have become very slim on the blueline, with both Colin Felix and Will MacKinnon being up in the AHL with the Utica Comets. The Thunder are back home on Friday and Saturday, but it is unknown when van de Leest will join Adirondack.
