The Adirondack Thunder have announced they have traded Zach Bannister to the Indy Fuel. This trade completes the trade in which the Thunder acquired Sam Ruffin. In seven games with Adirondack, Ruffin has one assist.
What This Means for Adirondack
Bannister, 25, signed with the Thunder this off-season after putting up one assist in two games with the Norfolk Admirals at the end of last season. In 20 games with Adirondack, he had three goals and one assist for four points. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise as Bannister has been in and out of the lineup all season, and with the new signings playing well, the Thunder needed to move some forwards and Bannister was one of the odd men out
Prior to going pro, the Grand Prairie, Alberta, native played four years at the NCAA level, including three years at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he put up 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points, including winning a WIAC Championship with the Yellowjackets. He would spend his final season at Stevenson University, where he had 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 28 games.
What This Means for Indy
The Indy Fuel had a rough start to the season and have made several changes lately. The change of scenery will give Bannister a fresh start and a chance to hopefully get more playing time with the Fuel. I expect Bannister to fit in as a solid middle-six forward for the Fuel. Indy has used 20 different forwards so far this season.
